How do you climb a mountain? -- One step at a time.
It’s the same process I use for rock climbing as I do with therapy, as it is a unique way to blend physical, mental and emotional resilience. Rock climbing has taught me a lot about patience and the power of small, intentional moves, which I bring into my work with clients. Climbing is also a practice in problem-solving; when one path doesn't work, we step back, regroup, and try again.
My approach is grounded in a holistic and integrative perspective, as I am passionate about understanding the unique ways a person processes and expresses their emotions, beliefs, and behaviours. Our emotions, thoughts and body language can dictate how we think, feel and act. Creating small changes to any one of these areas can lead to a positive ripple that we want to see in life. Just as a rubber band stretched too tightly snaps back, too much change at once can create tension, making progress feel unattainable. Through this approach, we cultivate sustainable change, allowing you to build a solid foundation for long-term success.
In my climbing therapy program, I guide kids through unique exercises—like painting their emotions before and after a climb or navigating routes blindfolded while tuning into their body's sensations. These activities illustrate the inner shifts that often go unseen. Another cornerstone of my approach is art therapy, as it allows us to communicate when words fall short. Through art, we can uncover emotions and beliefs, giving them space to breathe and heal.
I strive to help others learn more about themselves, and this involves being vulnerable and open in a safe and supportive environment. Applying evidence-based treatments will create a solid foundation for navigating your specific challenges to develop resilience and support your ongoing growth and personal development.
